Life is beachy

This week is off to a great start! The oppressive humidity and constant barrage of thunderstorms have finally ceased, so I was able to get some long-overdue yard work checked off (mainly, ripping out scores of mulberry tree saplings distributed by birds munching on the fruits from a neighbor’s tree). I continue to receive positive feedback about my performance in a new role at work. But the highlight has to be spending today with my mom and brother at Sandbridge and Virginia Beach, enjoying the soothing waves and ocean breeze, strolling up and down the board walk, popping into different shops, and finishing it all off with some Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. My brother treated us to lunch at a cute little restaurant about 10 minutes west of Sandbridge called The Bee and The Biscuit. They serve southern style breakfast and lunch plus all manner of mixed drinks and cocktails. I enjoyed a sirloin focaccia sandwich with roasted red pepper aoli, parmesan cheese, chimichurri, and  carmelized onions! Oh, and with a side of cheddar grits! It’s been a while since I’ve had food this flavorful, to be honest (outside of my wife’s home cooking, of course!). Service was fast given how busy they were.
